Since being elected as Parent Governor in 2017 I have thoroughly enjoyed being involved in School Life.
Seeing the students strive academically and their enthusiasm and pride in their achievements for example in Sport, Art and Music is delightful, one of the highlights being the learning walks we complete with our Local Authority Education Advisor, who too sees the enthusiasm of not only our students, but staff too.
Attending various training courses I have developed my skills and knowledge to enable me to deliver the best support I can in my governing role whilst also enhancing my understanding of the running of the school as a whole.
I have brought my professional knowledge and experience to develop an on-going relationship with Age UK and accessing new experiences for students with the older generation with a particular focus on students becoming 'Dementia Friends'
The students are a credit to the school and the hard work of the staff and senior leadership team is reflected in them. Knowing the challenges faced by tight budgets and strict educational guidelines I feel this is even more prevalent as it proves to me that the school truly are focusing on bringing out the best in individuals and offering them the best possible start to their education.
The success of the school is vital for the area, the continual improvement of the school is vital for current and future students. I am proud to say I am part of Old Park Primary School, reaching for success.

Corrine was appointed Co-Opted Governor in March 2026
I was appointed as a Co-opted Governor at Old Park Primary School and am proud to support a school that sits at the heart of its community. Alongside my role as a Governor, I also work for the NHS at our local hospital and serve as a local Borough Councillor and Town and parish Councillor, which has given me valuable experience in communication, leadership, governance and supporting local communities.
As both a parent and community representative, I understand how important it is for children and families to feel listened to, supported and included. All three of my children have attended Old Park Primary School and have had a very positive and successful educational experience here, which makes being part of the school community even more meaningful to me.
Equality and inclusion are very important to me, and I believe every child should feel valued, respected and able to achieve their full potential regardless of background, ability or personal circumstances. I am passionate about helping to create opportunities for young people and supporting schools to remain safe, positive and inclusive environments where children can thrive both academically and personally.
It is a real privilege and honour to be part of Old Park Primary School, and I am looking forward to growing, learning and developing alongside the school community. I previously worked with children who have behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties (BESD). In my previous job, I used to work with multiple safeguarding agencies, which I feel has given me the confidence, knowledge and understanding to fulfil this role and to ensure the school is taking a child-centred response to all the decisions.
